CONNECTS-UK is holding its 1st Open Forum on 18th October at the University of Edinburgh, and on live-stream.
CONNECTS-UK is a collaborative project conceptualised in 2022 by the scientific diasporas of Finland, France, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Netherlands, and Spain in the UK, together with Native Scientists, with the main goal to strengthen EU-UK scientific collaboration and research mobility. CONNECTS-UK is currently also integrated by the diaspora of Slovenia.
The topic of this 1st Open Forum (5 more will follow all over the UK) is ‘Democratic Backsliding’ focusing on misinformation and global impact of social media. Presentations and panel discussions involving renowned speakers from the UK and the EU will focus on democratic backsliding in politics and on trust in science.
The objective of the Open Fora is to bring together leading academics and students in the EU and the UK, who will present their research to an expert and non-expert audience. With these events, we aim to connect EU researchers and academics working in the UK, to give visibility to their achievements and to transfer scientific knowledge to the broader society.
A networking lunch will be offered before the official starting.
The detailed agenda and the registration link with more information will follow shortly. If interested in joining, also on-line via streaming, please save the date now.
As space in the Lecture Theater of the University of Edinburgh is limited, the places will be reserved on a first come, first served basis. For those traveling from outside Edinburgh, we will consider contributing to the cost of travel (bus, train, etc. tickets); further details to follow.
Competition guidelines and registration link for best poster and video award will be shared soon.
CONNECTS-UK is co-funded by the European Union.
