SAVE THE DATE - CONNECTS-UK 2nd open forum 'AI: What does it mean for research, for society and for you?'

  • Cardiff University London United Kingdom (map)

CONNECTS-UK is holding its 2nd Open Forum on 20 November at Cardiff University and Online.

Artificial Intelligence (AI), and especially generative AI, has been hitting the headlines. AI seems to present us with extensive opportunities, whilst there are also warnings of significant downsides.

But what exactly is AI? How could it affect us in our work and daily lives? How does it affect science?

Join us, for a lively and frank discussion with leading European experts, examining the potential and big issues associated with AI.

We welcome everyone who is curious about AI and wants to find out more, from

interested outsiders to leading experts.  This event is open to all, free of

charge, and with lunch and networking opportunities.

We are running a poster and video competition too, with a cash prize; more details

with agenda and registration form to follow soon.

For those travelling to Cardiff, we are offering travel reimbursements of up to £80 per person (limited availability on a first-come, first-served basis). Please keep your travel receipts for claiming the reimbursement.

This event is organised by CONNECTS-UK. CONNECTS-UK is a collaborative

project conceptualised in 2022 by the scientific diasporas

of Finland, France, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Netherlands, and Spain in the UK,

together with Native Scientists. The diaspora of Slovenia is now also associated

with CONNECTS-UK. The main goals of CONNECTS-UK are to strengthen EU-UK

scientific collaboration and research mobility but also the showcase the impact of

science.

The event is supported by Academia Europaea Cardiff, part of a pan-European academy promoting research excellence and science for policy.

The objective of the Open Fora is to bring together leading researchers in the EU and the UK, who present their research to an expert and non-expert audience. With these events, CONNECTS-UK aims to connect EU researchers and academics working in the UK, to give visibility to their achievements and to transfer scientific knowledge to the broader society.

Due to limited seating in the lecture theatre, we encourage you to register early.

Please feel free to distribute this email with those who might be interested. The full

program of the event will be available in our website shortly.
